Cak Imin Wants To Meet Megawati, Hasto Makes Sure The PDI-P's Attitude Is Final, Doesn't Spit Out About Postponed Election

JAKARTA - PDI-P Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto emphasized that his party had closed the door to discussing the postponement of the 2024 General Election (Pemilu) because the party's position was final regarding the five-year contest.

This was conveyed by Hasto in response to the statement of the Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin. Cak Imin said he was waiting for a call from PDIP Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri to discuss postponing the election.

"For the postponement of the election, the position of the PDIP is final, the position of the DPR, including the presence of political parties in the DPR, has been finalized on February 24, so we will not lick our own saliva, which must be aimed at good political ethics," said Hasto at the PDIP Party School, Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta, Monday, March 28.

Even so, PDIP has no problem if Cak Imin wants to stay in touch with Megawati. Moreover, dialogue between party chairmen is common.

Not only that, Cak Imin and Syaifullah Yusuf alias Gus Ipul are figures who have been entrusted by Abdurrahman Wahid alias Gus Dur to Megawati. So, the relationship can be done.

"If Cak Imin wants to meet with Bu Ketum, this Cak Imin was entrusted by Gus Dur together with Syaifullah Yusuf to be together with Bu Mega," said Hasto.

"So that the Mrs. Ketum dialogue is usually done by Mrs. Ketum and party ranks," he added.

As previously reported, Cak Imin admitted that he was waiting for a call from Megawati to discuss postponing the election.

It is known, the two parties have different views even though they are in a coalition supporting the government of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). PKB supports postponing the election, while PDIP takes the opposite stance.

"I'm waiting to be called by Mrs. Mega first," said Cak Imin to reporters quoted on Friday, March 25.

Even so, Cak Imin admitted that until now there is no schedule to meet the fifth former President of the Republic of Indonesia. He also mentioned that he had not directly submitted a proposal to postpone the 2024 election to President Jokowi.

According to him, the PKB will only submit a proposal to postpone the 2024 election to Jokowi after the proposal is discussed at the top political party level.

"No (there is no communication with Jokowi regarding the postponement of the 2024 election, ed). In fact, we have only proposed it to the public, parties, only to Pak Jokowi later," he said.

Cak Imin emphasized that President Jokowi had never opened a discussion about postponing the 2024 election even though he had met him. The second meeting took place at the opening of the 144th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Nusa Dua, Bali last weekend.

"There are no comments. Haven't had a conversation yet," said Cak Imin.
