JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan and Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives Puan Maharani briefly met in Bali, Thursday, March 24, morning.

Political communication observer at Esa Unggul University, Jamiluddin Ritonga, assessed that Luhut's meeting with Puan seemed to discuss several things related to national issues. It could be, one of them is talking about the 2024 election.

"The conversation is possible because Puan has been vocal in rejecting the postponement of the 2024 General Election. She must be approached so that she can soften up regarding the postponement," Jamiluddin said to VOI, Monday, March 28.

According to him, Luhut has the capacity to soften Puan's attitude. This is because Luhut has been considered capable of overcoming various problems, including those that are considered impossible.

However, said Jamiluddin, the issue of rejecting the postponement of the 2024 General Election is not entirely in the hands of Puan. Because Puan is just an extension of the PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri.

"So, even if Puan is lobbyed by Luhut, the decision regarding the postponement of the 2024 election is still in Megawati's hands," he said.

Therefore, added Jamiluddin, Puan, who is still under her mother's control, seems to be sticking with her initial attitude. "Puan will remain vocal in rejecting the postponement of the 2024 election as long as Megawati persists in her stance," he said. Previously, PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto revealed that Luhut and Puan's meeting discussed their respective duties and functions. According to Hasto, the discussion was about investment and maritime affairs in Luhut's capacity as Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries and Puan Maharani as Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives.
