Fisherman Who Has Been Missing In The Waters Of Barasanga Island, Southeast Sulawesi, Found Dead By Basarnas

JAKARTA - The Kendari Basarnas said that Anton (48), a fisherman who was reported missing on Wednesday, March 23, when his boat was hit by waves in the waters of Barasanga Island, Wawolesea District, North Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi, was found dead.

Head of the Kendari Basarnas Aris Sofingi in Kendari, Saturday said the victim was found dead after three days of search operations by the joint SAR team.

"The victim was found about 3 nautical miles southeast of the crash site," he said, quoted from Antara, Saturday, March 26.

The joint SAR team then evacuated the victim's body to the funeral home in Lemo Bajo Village, Wawolesea District to be handed over to the family.

Previously, on March 23, 2022, at 07.00 WITA, it was reported that the victim and his partner went down to the sea to fish around the waters of Barasanga Island by boat.

However, when they were about to go back home, at around 17.20 WITA, the victim's boat and that of a colleague were hit by rain and big waves, causing the victim to fall from the boat.

The victim's colleague tried to search for the victim but with no results, so the incident was reported by the village head of Barasanga Rasyid, who was then reported to the Kendari Basarnas on us (24/3) to get SAR assistance.

The search for victims on the third day involved the Kendari Search and Rescue Office (KKP) rescue team, Lasolo Police personnel, local fishermen and the victim's family with the main tools of one rubber boat and 10 boats belonging to fishermen.
