Health Office: 12,344 Children In Lhokseumawe Aceh Have Been Vaccinated Against COVID-19

ACEH - The Health Office (Dinkes) of Lhokseumawe City, Aceh, recorded that 12,344 children or 59.53 percent of the target 20,736 children aged six to 11 years in the area had received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination.

Acting (Plt) Head of Lhokseumawe City Health Service Safwaliza said vaccination of children six to 11 years old in Lhokseumawe City began in early January 2022.

"We continue to intensify the vaccination program so that the target for children receiving the COVID-19 vaccine can be met 100 percent," said Safwaliza in Lhokseumawe, Antara, Friday, March 25.

Meanwhile, the second dose of COVID-19 vaccination for children aged six to 11 years, said Safwaliza, has reached 5,806 people or 28 percent.

"This child vaccination targets schools to accelerate group immunity. This vaccination protects children from COVID-19, especially now that the teaching and learning process is carried out face-to-face," said Safwaliza

He said vaccination is to realize herd immunity. With the formation of group immunity, it can break the chain of transmission and spread of COVID-19.

Regarding the overall achievement of COVID-19 vaccination, Safwaliza said residents of Lhokseumawe City who had been vaccinated with the first dose were 157,846 people or 95.48 percent of the target of 165,321 people.

Meanwhile, the second dose was 84.175 people or 50.92 percent and the third dose or booster dose was still 8,040 people or 4.86 percent. "Even though we have been vaccinated, we remind residents to remain disciplined in implementing health protocols to prevent the transmission of COVID-19," said Safwaliza.
