DENPASAR - A tornado appeared on Klatakan beach, Jembrana Regency, Bali. This wind speed is estimated to reach 64 km / hour.

"A tornado in the sea or a waterspout is a strong wind with a circular motion out of a cloud of cumulonimbus type. The speed can be more than 34.8 knots or about more than 64 km / hour, ”said BMKG Region III Denpasar weather forecaster Luh Eka Arisanti to reporters, Friday, September 25.

According to him, this phenomenon occurs in a short time, about a few minutes. Waterspout called BMKG usually appears in the transitional season.

"Currently, our area in Bali and its surroundings is experiencing a transition from dry mass to the rainy season. So such phenomena will usually appear in areas that are undergoing transition, "he continued.

This waterspout is dangerous for those who do activities in the ocean such as fishermen. BMKG asked Balinese citizens to be aware of weather conditions in the middle of changing seasons.

"BMKG recommends that people take anticipatory steps because it is currently in a transition. So things like this need to be watched out for, among others, strong winds of short duration and sudden heavy rains but in a short time and also the phenomenon of tornadoes like this during the transitional period, "said Luh Eka.
