JAKARTA - The police are investigating the alleged illegal levies (Pungli) in the parking lot of Kali Adem Port, North Jakarta.

The Head of the Sunda Kelapa Police, Kompol Seto Handoko Putra, explained that this was not extortion, but because of the limited parking space used by local residents.

"So on the right is the location of the parking pocket which is empowered by residents of the settlements around the Kali Adem pier, for tourists who bring 4-wheeled and 2-wheeled vehicles for overnight parking," Seto said when confirmed, Thursday, March 24.

Seto explained that the price determined by residents was varied, such as a 2-wheeler, if you stay overnight, you will be charged a tariff of Rp. 20 thousand to Rp. 25 thousand.

“The relative parking fee for 4 wheels is 50 thousand, for 2 nights 1 day. For two wheels, 20 thousand to 25 thousand stay," he said.

However, Seto explained that the parking fee in the area was equalized. The party will cooperate with the North Jakarta Transportation Service (Dishub).

"Still coordinating (North Jakarta Department)," he said.
