JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno inaugurated the Samosir Creative Hub at Pantai Indah Situngkir, Samosir Regency, North Sumatra, as an effort to revive the pace of the creative economy (ekraf) after the COVID-19 pandemic.

"This Creative Hub is a breakthrough for our national awakening, opening up business opportunities and employment. Together with Mr. President Jokowi, we are setting up a new post-pandemic economic order and we must immediately rise," he said in a statement received in Jakarta, Wednesday, March 23 as quoted from Antara.

The construction of the place is said to have received support from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy through the Government Assistance (Banper) mechanism, in the form of coffee processing equipment facilities, technological facilities, and an audio visual system.

"This Creative Hub should not be deserted, because it belongs to the people and funds from the government, so it must be used as well as possible," said the Menparekraf.

The establishment of Creative Hub Samosir began in June 2021 and will be completed in January 2022. The building has a total area of 1,000 square meters and a building area of 460 square meters divided into two floors.

On the first floor, it will be used for coffee processing activities, starting from the processing room, taste test laboratory, packaging room, to the display room and cafe to sell community products.

While on the second floor, there are multifunctional classrooms, co-working spaces, and meeting rooms that can be used, among others, for training, workshops, and discussions.

Sandiaga said that the inauguration of the Samosir Creative Hub was collaborated with the launch of the "Horas Samosir Fiesta" as a form of synergy between institutions/stakeholders to advance the Samosir area as one of the super priority tourism destinations.

"The launch of the Horas Samosir Fiesta is expected to inspire the creative economy players in Samosir. By initiating events, I am sure it will revive the economy," he said.
