81 Kg Of Cannabis Burned At The Yogyakarta Police Headquarters, Result Of Case Disclosure During December 2021

YOGYAKARTA - At least 81 kilograms of marijuana resulting from the disclosure of a cross-provincial narcotics trafficking case in December 2021 was destroyed at the Yogyakarta Regional Police Headquarters yard, Tuesday, March 22.

Director of Drug Investigation of the Yogyakarta Regional Police, Kombes Pol. Bayu Adhi Joyokusumo, said the narcotics evidence that was destroyed today was based on disclosures from the national circulation network.

"This is the result of the disclosure of the national network of marijuana trafficking cases late last year," he said, quoted from Antara.

Tens of kilograms of marijuana which were packaged into 64 packs covered with duct tape were destroyed by burning.

According to Adhi, the destruction of the evidence of 81 kilograms of marijuana is part of the transparency of handling narcotics cases according to the mandate of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.

"Thus, the public will know that the seized narcotic evidence has been completely destroyed," he said.

He explained that the evidence that was destroyed was related to the disclosure of marijuana dealers in Aceh, Medan, Bandung, Bogor and Yogyakarta since December 2021.

In a series of investigations into the case, the Yogyakarta Regional Police later revealed the existence of a marijuana field in the Gunung Leuser National Park area, Gayo Lues Regency, Aceh on February 3, 2022.

Prior to the culling, he said, the police had burned a two-hectare marijuana field. "A permit for the destruction (of marijuana evidence) has also been obtained from the Gayo Luwes Prosecutor's Office," said Adhi Joyokusumo.
