10 Days Of Operation Yustisi, 584 Business Places Closed With Fines Collected IDR1 Billion

JAKARTA - As many as 584 business establishments were closed because they were found to have violated health protocols and continued to serve customers eating on the spot. The number of places of business is spread throughout Indonesia.

Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Awi Setiyono, said the business premises were found to have violated when the joint team of TNI, Polri, and local government (Pemda) conducted a justisi operation for 10 days since 14 September.

"The witness has closed his business premises 584 times," Awi told reporters, Thursday, September 24.

For verbal reprimands, there were 799,001 recorded reprimands and 1,838 written warnings. Then, the social work sanctions amounted to 121,887 times. Meanwhile, there were 15,773 administrative sanctions with a value of Rp1.1 billion.

"The combined team of Justisi operations conducted an (accumulated) prosecution of 1,117,583 times," he said.

Previously, the Presidential Spokesperson for Legal Affairs Dini Purwono asked the public not to consider the justisi health protocol operation as a repressive act. He said, this operation was held to increase public awareness in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The government asks the public not to consider the justisi operation of the health protocol as part of repressive measures. Moreover, in its implementation, the government also cooperates with community organizations, religious leaders and community leaders to help enforce health protocols in society and communities," said Dini.

According to him, enforcement of this discipline is important because the key to controlling COVID-19 starts from implementing protocols such as wearing masks, maintaining distance, and diligently washing hands.

"The public must realize that they are the spearhead in efforts to control this," he said
