How Much Should Indonesian Citizens Spend If Quarantined In Malaysia?

JAKARTA - The Malaysian government has begun implementing a quarantine fee for foreign nationals (WNA) who enter the country. The rules are set since today, Thursday 24 September. Later, every foreigner, including if there are Indonesians who undergo quarantine, must pay RM4700 or around Rp. 16 million.

Deputy Head of the State Disaster Management Agency (Nadma), Malaysian Prime Minister Zakaria Bin Shaaban confirmed the news in a circulating letter. Nadma's letter also stated that the quarantine charge was based on a special meeting of the ministers regarding the Movement Control Order (PKP) on September 15, 2020.

The full quarantine fee without government subsidies is implemented by the Malaysian Ministry of Health at all entrances. The foreigner concerned will be given a receipt so that he can enter the designated hotel.

Actually, the policy came into effect on September 15, 2020. However, in order to provide an opportunity for all agencies at the airport border entrance to make adjustments, the regulation was finally set to take effect today.

Even so, this rule gives exceptions to Reciprocal Green Lane (RGL) and Periodic Communting Arrangement (PCA) visa holders. Those visa holders are allowed to be quarantined at home.

Meanwhile, a doctor from Indonesia who works at Serdang Hospital, Selangor, Dr Fahirah Anditasari said that when he was quarantined some time ago the tariff was still between RM2,100 to RM2,500 or Rp. 7 million to Rp. 8 million more.

He underwent quarantine at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur for 14 days after arriving from Jakarta (9/8). "Now the quarantine tariff of RM4,700 has doubled," he said.
