PALANGKA RAYA - The Attorney General's Office for Arresting Fugitives (Tabur) together with the Central Kalimantan High Prosecutor's Sow team arrested a suspect in a corruption case involving the construction of inter-village roads in 11 villages along the Sanamang River, Katingan Hulu District, Katingan Regency in 2020 while in Jakarta.

"The HAT suspect is a wanted list (DPO) from the Central Kalimantan High Court," said the head of the AGO's Legal Information Center, Ketut Sumedana, quoted by Antara, Friday, March 18.

He explained that from the corruption crime allegedly committed by the HAT suspect, it was suspected that it resulted in state losses of more than IDR 2.1 billion.

The HAT suspect was arrested because when he was summoned three times as a suspect by the Investigating Prosecutor of the Central Kalimantan High Prosecutor's Office, he did not come to fulfill the summons that had been properly delivered. Furthermore, the HAT is included in the DPO. After confirming its existence, HAT was immediately secured.

"The HAT suspect was arrested on Thursday (17/3) at around 17.55 WIB at the hotel in Pasar Baru, Central Jakarta," he said.

After being arrested, the suspect HAT was taken to the Central Jakarta District Attorney's Office. He was then taken to the Central Kalimantan High Prosecutor's Office to undergo the legal process of his case.

"Through the Tabur program, we appeal to all DPOs of the Prosecutor's Office to immediately surrender and be held accountable for their actions because there is no safe place for the fugitives," said Ketut Sumedana.

The day before, at a press conference the Head of the Central Kalimantan High Prosecutor's Office, Iman Wijaya, through the Assistant for Special Crimes, Douglas Pamino Nainggolan, asked the suspect HAT to cooperate.

Since being named a suspect on February 14, 2022, the Central Kalimantan Prosecutor's Office has summoned HAT three times. However, HAT is absent from the call.

"With the absence of the HAT suspect, although three summons have been made, of course we will make other efforts to bring the person concerned as soon as possible," said Douglas.

Previously, HAT's legal team, Benny Pakpahan, who was confirmed on Thursday morning regarding the case involving his client, was not ready to comment.
