JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) together with Commission IV DPR agreed to temporarily revoke the permits of 14 clear lobster seed exporters (BBL). This is because they are found to have violated statutory regulations, namely manipulating the number of seeds to be exported.
KKP Secretary General Antam Novambar conveyed the agreement to revoke the temporary permit during a working meeting with Commission IV at the DPR RI Building, Jakarta, on Tuesday, September 22.
The working meeting also emphasized that the temporary revocation of the permit only applies to the export of BBL. Meanwhile, the lobster cultivation process belonging to 14 exporters may continue as usual.
Antam said that the case had been transferred to the authorities. During the investigation and investigation process, the exporters' export permits have been suspended.
"The company cannot issue the BBL until the investigation or investigation has been completed by the authorities," he said, in a written statement received by VOI, Wednesday, September 23.
Meanwhile, the difference between the number of BBL that will be sent to Vietnam and those reported by exporters is approximately 1.12 million seeds. Antam explained that the number of BBL that exceeds the regulation varies from exporter to exporter.
Furthermore, Antam said, there was even one exporter who avoided being called a violation of the rules because the number of seeds he was going to export was less than reported.
"So a company does not admit it because the results of the physical examination are actually lower than the documents that are proven," he said.
From the results of the examination, said Antam, the reason why exporters falsified the data on the number of BBL was in order to minimize losses due to differences in selling prices on the export market and the buying prices for fishermen. Then also to reduce the losses due to the death of BBL.
"These exporters have admitted their mistakes and are ready to accept sanctions and pay fines," he said.
As previously reported, the attempt to smuggle 1.12 million clear lobster seeds took place a week ago at Soekarno Hatta Airport, Tangerang, Banten. There are 1.5 million seeds that are ready to be shipped to Vietnam. However, after being checked again by Customs officers, the number turned out to be more than that.
