JAKARTA - PDI-P General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri patted her chest when she saw women fighting over each other for cooking oil lately.

He admitted that he was surprised that mothers did not choose other alternative ways to cook in the midst of the scarcity and rising prices of cooking oil lately.

"Now, let's see, the fuss is about buying cooking oil. I can just rub my chest, it's not a matter of not having cooking oil or how expensive it is," said Megawati in a stunting-related webinar broadcast on YouTube, Thursday, March 17.

According to Megawati, there are actually various ways to manage food other than frying. So, he questioned whether every mother cooks food only by frying without any other way.

"It made me think, so every day the mothers only fry? Until it's so scrambled, is there no way to boil, then steam or like rujak?" he asked.

He said that this method of cooking can actually be used in various Indonesian menus which can be used as references.

"Isn't there (another way of cooking, ed)? It's an Indonesian menu, you know. Why is it complicated (difficult, ed)," said the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia.

Megawati reminded that nutrition for Indonesian children must still be considered to eliminate stunting or malnutrition. He agrees that when he talks about this, there are people who compare the food he eats with most people.

However, Megawati emphasized that what she ate was actually the same. "Later, someone will say 'mom eats meat and drinks milk'. No. I eat tempeh, I eat salted fish. It's no different from you. That's straightforward when talking to the people. They are confused and silent because of what the nutrition is," he said.

He also asked that good food intake should be considered especially for children. According to him, the intake should not only be filling but also contain nutrients.

"That food is not just intake, you don't have to know what to eat to make the so-called prosperous family a happy family, healthy children, running, healthy and so on," he concluded.
