KALSEL - The government of Tanah Laut Regency, South Kalimantan is holding a market operation for basic necessities, especially cooking oil as an effort to anticipate rising prices.

Tanah Laut Regent HM Sukamta said the market operation was held as an effort to ease the burden on the community amid the difficulty of getting cooking oil.

"Today we are carrying out market operations by providing 2,000 liters of cooking oil and each person gets a portion of two liters. In the future we will continue to seek similar activities to provide convenience for the community," he said at Pelaihari, Antara, Wednesday, March 16.

From the results of a review of the stock and prices of basic foodstuffs, the problem with the price of cooking oil turns out to be varied. "I think the price of cooking oil in the market is still reasonable, but the problem is the stock availability is still lacking," he said.

Sukamta emphasized that his party will continue to coordinate with various parties and stakeholders to address the issue of the availability of cooking oil stocks. He also invited the public to respond wisely to the current cooking oil problem.

"All people should use cooking oil in moderation, don't panic and buy too much. The government continues to try to provide cooking oil stocks," he said.

Separately, a resident of Angsau Tyas Village admitted that he was happy with the cooking oil operation.

According to him, this activity is very helpful for the community when the market situation is difficult to get cooking oil due to limited stock.

"Alhamdulillah, so far, buying cooking oil in the market is still at a reasonable price, sometimes it is above the regulation even though it is not too high. Therefore, this operation is very helpful for us," said Tyas.

During the market operation, the regent immediately reviewed and handed over the cooking oil to the buyer as a sign of starting market operations.

After opening the activity, the regent and his staff headed to the Barakat Hall of the Tanah Laut Regency Regional Secretariat, to hold a meeting with the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) to support the achievement of regional economic growth.
