MPU: Aceh Products Don't Have To Use The New Halal Label

BANDA ACEH - The Aceh Ulama Consultative Council (MPU) stated that community business products in Tanah Rencong do not have to use the new label (logo) issued by the Ministry of Religion, because Aceh has special features and can decide for themselves.

"Because the Law (UUPA) confirms that Aceh is special in this regard, we can still use the old logo, and there has been no change from the Aceh Government," said MPU Aceh Chair Tgk Faisal Ali in Banda Aceh, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, March 15.

Tgk Faisal said that the Aceh qanun (regional regulation) has also stated that there is a formulation for a new halal certificate label. However, so far the local government has not acted on it.

"For the halal logo, it's up to us in Aceh, now the logo is still valid as usual," he said.

However, said Tgk Faisal, if there are products from Aceh, both MSMEs and large scale ones that want to go to the national level, they must follow the label provisions that have just been set by the Ministry of Religion.

"However, if only products for Aceh are not a problem and may use their own logo," he said.

Tgk Faisal said that the new halal label is a mandate from the law carried out by the Halal Product Guarantee Agency (BPJPH). However, although the certification of halal products is issued by BPJPH, the MUI for halal criteria.

Tgk Faisal emphasized that the people of Aceh should not have polemics regarding the new halal label, because Aceh has its own provisions.

Tgk Faisal also appealed to business actors in Aceh who have not made halal certification to immediately take care of it. Because this is important according to the advice of Islam.

"Those who have obtained a halal certificate must be able to maintain the commitments that have been agreed and signed with the Aceh MPU in maintaining the halalness of their products," said Tgk Faisal.

As is known, the Halal Product Guarantee Agency (BPJPH) of the Ministry of Religion has established a nationally valid halal label, adopting the form of gunungan on wayang.

The determination of the halal label that applies nationally is contained in the Decree of the Head of BPJPH Number 40 of 2022 concerning the Determination of the Halal Label which is effective as of March 1, 2022.

The determination of the halal label is also part of the implementation of the provisions of Article 37 of Law Number 33 of 2014 concerning Halal Product Guarantee and Government Regulation Number 39 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of the Halal Product Assurance Sector.
