Whoops! It's Been A Week Since The Residents Of Pondok Bambu Isolated By Floods, Puddles Of Water Become Children's Toys

JAKARTA - In the past week, hundreds of residential areas in Pondok Bambu Village, Duren Sawit District, East Jakarta, have been flooded.

The flood inundated several points including RT 007, 015, 016 RW 007 with a height of 50 centimeters until Tuesday, March 15, afternoon.

According to Kosim, Head of RT 015/007, Pondok Bambu, the root of the flood problem is the closed water channel to the East Flood Canal (BKT) around the location. The water channel collapsed due to heavy rains that flushed the location a few days ago.

"The dam is a direct escape to the KBT (East Flood Canal), the channel that used to be smooth is now no longer running due to a landslide," said Kosim at the location, Tuesday, March 15, afternoon.

In the RT 015 area, there are about 60 houses affected by the flood. Kosim said the water level was still around 50 centimeters.

"In RT 016 if I'm not mistaken 35 houses, RT 007 if I'm not mistaken 40 houses are affected," he said.

Due to the inundation, the activities of residents were isolated. Jakarta Water Resources Service (SDA) officers are still continuing to drain the puddle.
