JAKARTA - The COVID-19 Handling Task Force reminded the public to always implement health protocols, namely using masks, maintaining distance and washing hands with soap (3M) to prevent COVID-19. Reisa's appeal followed the addition of 4,176 new COVID-19 cases, the highest since March 2020.

"Still, the most effective way to prevent transmission of COVID-19 that we can do is 3M. The first M always wears a mask every time we go out of the house, even though the important thing is to stay at home, ”said Reisa Broto Asmoro, spokesperson for the COVID-19 Task Force, quoted by Antara, Monday, September 21.

Meanwhile, the second M is the discipline of maintaining a safe distance, at least one to two meters from other people. This includes staying away from the crowd.

Lastly, wash your hands properly and properly as often as possible. This should be done using soap and running water or using a hand sanitizer.

Reisa explained that various studies have proven that the combination of 3M's health protocols has succeeded in reducing the transmission rate of COVID-19 to the lowest point. Therefore, as long as the pandemic still exists, don't reduce 3M's level of discipline, he said.

"The best way to beat a pandemic is to cut off transmission or transmission because prevention is better than cure," said Reisa.

According to data from the Ministry of Health, the number of confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 in Indonesia is 248,852, with an additional 4,176 cases as of this Monday.

Previously, the number of positive cases of COVID-19 on a daily basis had touched a level above 4 thousand on Saturday (19/9), which was 4,168 cases, however the number of cases decreased on Sunday (20/9), amounting to 3,989 new cases.

Of the total confirmed cases, the number of recovered patients increased by 3,470 people, bringing the total number of COVID-19 patients who managed to recover to 180,797.

Meanwhile, for cases of positive COVID-19 patients who died, it increased by 124 to 9,677 patients who died

The cumulative COVID-19 cases were mostly in DKI Jakarta with a total of 63,318 cases, East Java 41,076 cases, and Central Java 19,754 cases.
