BEKASI - Burangkeng final processing site (TPA) in Setu District, Bekasi Regency, is planned to be expanded. The reason is, the current condition of the landfill is already overloaded.

For this reason, the Bekasi Regency Government (Pemkab) is planning to acquire land around the TPA location. This was conveyed by the Head of the Cleaning Division of the Bekasi Regency Environmental Service, Khaerul Hamid in Cikarang, Saturday, March 12.

"The condition of the TPA land is currently overloaded so it is no longer able to accommodate waste. We have planned to acquire land around the site," said Khaerul, as reported by Antara.

Burangkeng landfill currently covers an area of 11 hectares. The plan is that the local government will expand to five hectares because the TPA is no longer able to accommodate the increasing amount of waste every day.

According to Khaerul, residents living around the Burangkeng TPA have approved the plan to expand the waste disposal area belonging to the local government.

"God willing, socially there will be no conflict. With the overload condition, the local community also hopes that there will be a solution and we are sure that the community will also pay attention to this condition," he said.

Meanwhile, Acting (Plt) Head of the Bekasi Regency Environmental Service, Eman Sulaeman said that his party had submitted a proposal for land acquisition for the expansion of the Burangkeng TPA to the regional work unit (SKPD) forum.

"Our proposal and also the community around the TPA have been submitted at the SKPD forum, to free up about five more hectares which we can use and we plan to apply the technology there," he said.

"The most competent for us to apply is RDF (Refuse Derived Fuel). RDF technology processes waste into biomass energy which is then used as a new and renewable energy source, replacing coal," he added.
