JAKARTA - The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) regrets the chaos at the School of Business and Management at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) which has affected students and prospective new students.

“Kemendikbudristek deeply regrets the impact experienced by students and prospective new students of SBM ITB due to this issue. Kemendikbudristek emphasizes that the interests of students must be the main priority," said Acting Karo BKHM Kemendikbudristek, Anang Ristanto, reported by Antara, Friday, March 11.

Previously, lectures at SBM ITB had been suspended since March 8, 2022, due to the chaos that occurred after ITB Chancellor Reini Wirahadikusumah revoked the right to self-manage SBM ITB in 2003 without notification and agreement.

"Kemendikbudristek ordered the chancellor to get approval from the ITB Board of Trustees (MWA) to be able to resolve this case in the shortest possible time to avoid a lasting impact on the SBM ITB academic community," he explained.

The Ministry of Education and Culture will always respect the autonomy of Legal Entity State Universities (PTN BH) as independent institutions to be able to resolve issues maturely and in a family-friendly way.

Kemendikbudristek will attend and support the process of resolving the issue by the campus.

“Currently the ITB leadership has taken steps to ensure the learning process and the admission of new students to SBM ITB continue as planned. The ITB Chancellor promised to resolve this issue as soon as possible to prevent a sustainable impact," he said.
