SURABAYA - The East Java Provincial Government and the East Java Drivers Movement (GSJT) agreed on four points related to the Road Transport Traffic Act policy regarding Over Domension Over Load (ODOL) or overloading and dimensions.

The agreement was stated in a meeting between the Deputy Governor of East Java Emil Elestianto Dardak and representatives of GSJT and a number of relevant policy makers when hundreds of truck drivers held a demonstration in Surabaya, Friday, March 11.

"With the agreement, the drivers can return to their activities so that the wheels of the economy can run again," said Emil Dardak, after receiving the driver's representative at the East Java Transportation Service office.

The four points of the agreement are, the East Java Provincial Government conveys aspirations in the form of a letter to the Ministry of Transportation which contains the costs or fees for vehicle drivers so that discussions can be carried out immediately.

Second, the provincial government issues instructions to regents or mayors throughout East Java to carry out motor vehicle testing or KIR.

"It's all on the governor's orders by writing to the regents and mayors to make sure the KIR test centers serve and don't refuse 'ODOL' vehicles," he said.

Furthermore, there will be no action by the police, transportation service, and land transportation management center (BPTD) as long as it does not endanger drivers and other road users.

Finally, there is no action at the weighbridge by BPTD, but only socialization related to "Zero ODOL".

"However, there is a note that drivers must pay attention to, namely not to endanger themselves and other vehicle users when driving," he said.

The agreement was also attended and signed by the Head of the East Java Transportation Service Nyono, the East Java Regional Police Director of Traffic, Kombes Pol Latief Usman, the Head of BPTD Region XI of East Java Province and representatives of the GSJT.

On that occasion, Emil Dardak took the time to meet the masses and convey the results of the agreement.

Dirlantas Polda East Java Latief Usman confirmed that it was agreed that no action would be taken against the driver, but provided that he did not endanger himself and other road users.

"So they have to be aware when carrying a lot of cargo, don't let their behavior be reckless on the road. Later it will be dangerous," he said.

According to Latief, as of January 1, 2022, the East Java Regional Police have implemented electronic ODOL traffic violations.

"We will not be in contact with the community. Please let the community move so that the economy continues to move to support development in East Java," he said.
