The Democratic Party Distributes Thousands Of Liters Of Cheap Cooking Oil To Citizens, Denny Siregar: Who's Actually Hoarding?

JAKARTA - Indonesia is experiencing a shortage of cooking oil. As a result, the selling price of cooking oil in the market soared.

In the midst of the cooking oil crisis, the Democratic Party conducted market operations. The party led by Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono distributes cooking oil to the public through a number of traditional markets.

However, Denny Siregar responded differently to this step. The social media activist was surprised that the Democrats had a large stock of cooking oil in the midst of a shortage.

"When I see that parties are distributing cheap cooking oil, even the Democrats are distributing cooking oil of up to 16 tons, I'm so taxed [wondering]... Actually, who is hoarding?" said Denny Siregar via his Twitter account, @Dennysiregar7, Friday March 11th.

Democrats did hold a market operation by going into the field distributing cooking oil in the midst of the cooking oil crisis. One of them is in Bungo Regency, Jambi, Sumatra on Tuesday, March 8.

"Responding to residents' complaints regarding the high cost and scarcity of cooking oil, the Jambi Democratic DPD has held a low-cost cooking oil market operation in four locations in Bungo Regency," wrote the Democrat Party's Twitter account, @PDemokrat, Friday, March 11.

The distribution of cooking oil is expected to help the community in the midst of the scarcity and its effect is to inflate prices. Especially ahead of Ramadan which is expected to fall in early April 2022.

"Hopefully it can help the needs of households and SMEs ahead of the month of Ramadan," he concluded.

The government then issued a policy by leveling the selling price due to the scarcity of cooking oil in the country on January 27, 2022.

The price of premium packaged oil in the market is Rp. 14,000 per liter. Meanwhile, the price of simple packaged cooking oil is Rp. 13,500 per liter, and the price of bulk cooking oil is Rp. 11,500 per liter.
