Commander Andika's Attitude: Allows Former Drunks To Become TNI Members But TNI Soldiers Are Undisciplined In Military Prisons

JAKARTA - The Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, General Andika Perkasa, has passed a former drunkard who tried to make a career as a candidate for a TNI officer. The former drunkard is Didi Anggawiharja from Anjani Village, Panda Mataram, East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.

Awanya Panglima Andika asked the reason why Didi did not qualify as a candidate for a TNI officer. It was stated that the testing team for the candidate for TNI officers, Didi did not meet the requirements because he admitted that he often consumed liquor (alcohol).

"I often drank alcohol from 2016 to 2017, until I got drunk, because I worked as a tourist guide," said the test team, quoted by VOI from General TNI Andika Perkasa's YouTube channel, Friday, March 11.

Didi has a past as a worker in the tourism sector. He was self-taught studying tourism from people who knew him earlier.

Further deepening his knowledge of tourism, Didi decided to live in an area that is a famous tourist attraction in Lombok, Gili Trawangan.

Didi tries his luck by becoming a tourist guide. That's when he often accompanies his clients and friends for alcohol parties.

This old habit was conveyed to the selection team for TNI officers, who finally decided that Didi did not pass during the Pantukhir Session (Final Determination Committee) for the selection center for the recruitment of Career Soldier Officers (Pa PK) of the TNI (specially for health workers) TA PK TNI. The trial was attended by the Commander General Andika Perkasa.

Didi's decision not to qualify as a member of the TNI was annulled. Panglima Andika turned out to have a different opinion and did not question a person's past.

To the selection team of TNI officers, Commander Andika said forget the bitter life that was passed in the past. But firmly, if Didi is accepted, he is obedient and disciplined with the regulations outlined by the TNI.

"The past, the past, once he was accepted, all laws and regulations apply, so this is irrelevant. Already, 49 passed!" said the TNI Commander.

Firmly To Disciplinary TNI Soldiers

Commander Andika is known to be strict with his subordinates. Not long ago, the former Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) ordered his subordinates not to disobey the rules.

He emphasized that TNI soldiers who violated discipline were not being detained in their respective units but would be confined to the central military prison. Panglima Andika conveyed this during a routine meeting with the TNI Military Police Central Commander from three dimensions and the TNI Legal Team.

"So, as long as everything is known, disciplinary punishment is no longer in units. So, disciplinary penalties, want 14 days, want 21 days, (carried out) in the Military Police, light or heavy in the Military Police, no longer in units," Andika said as quoted by Antara. from General TNI Andika Perkasa's YouTube channel.

Panglima Andika said that the basis for detaining disciplinary TNI soldiers in military prisons under the supervision of the TNI Military Police was to give up. The detention of TNI soldiers who were not disciplined in their respective dimensions previously did not have a deterrent effect.

"Because if the unit has a lot of pre-memory, there are lots of corvettes. So, it doesn't seem serious. In the end it doesn't cause a deterrent effect. Yes, this is just discipline, but do it so that he feels it too," he said.

During the same meeting, Panglima Andika briefly discussed a number of legal violations involving members of the TNI in various regions. Commander Andika first received an explanation about the progress of the ongoing case in the military court and general court.

Panglima Andika said that soldiers who are disciplinary against the law using sharp tools or weapons should not become law enforcers.

Furthermore, he emphasized that TNI soldiers who were found guilty of carrying out military discipline and using weapons should be fired. Either the victim was injured or died, he had to be fired because he had bad intentions.

"Anyway, those who have involved acts of violence with weapons, make sure he is fired," said Panglima Andika.
