Update On COVID-19 As Of September 19: Another Record, New Cases Translated To 4,168

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) releases the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 today. A total of 44,543 specimens were examined within 24 hours with the result of 4,168 new positive cases of COVID-19.

The number of new cases of COVID-19 today has reached a new record. Previously, the record for most new cases occurred on September 16, with an increase of 3,963 new cases.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 240,687 people," he was quoted as saying from data from the Ministry of Health, Saturday, September 19.

Today's cases increased by 3,576, so that a total of 174,350 people recovered. Then, the confirmed positive cases who died increased by 112 people and a total of 9,448 people.

The province with the most new cases is DKI Jakarta with 988 new cases and a total of 60,828 cases. DKI Jakarta is also the province with the most accumulated cases in Indonesia.

Followed by West Java which has 470 new cases with a total of 16,395 cases. East Java has 379 new cases and a total of 40,372 cases. Riau has 303 new cases and a total of 4,990 cases. Then, Central Java has 271 new cases and a total of 19,213 cases.

The province with the most cases recovered today belongs to DKI Jakarta with an increase of 1,025 cases recovered. Followed by West Java with an additional 554 recovered cases, East Java with an additional 429 recovered cases, and Central Java with an additional 403 recovered cases.

Not a single province reported having no new cases as of today. Meanwhile, at least new cases were in West Sulawesi with 1 case.

In addition, the number of specimens examined reached 2,885,895. In detail, 2,836,979 specimens were examined using real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and 48,916 using molecular rapid tests (TCM).

"The number of positive results per number of specimens examined (positivity rate) was 14.2 percent," he wrote.

Finally, the number of people suspected of having contracted COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases, was recorded at 107,863 people. Currently, 493 districts / cities from 34 provinces have cases of COVID-19.
