PALEMBANG - The Government of Palembang City, South Sumatra will soon realize the Keramasan Waste Power Plant (PLTSa) after signing a cooperation agreement with PT Indo Green Power for processing waste into electrical energy or PSEL.

"Today, a cooperation agreement has been signed regarding waste processing into electrical energy (PSEL) witnessed by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan in Jakarta," said Deputy Mayor of Palembang Fitrianti Agustinda, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, March 9.

Initially, his party planned to build the Keramasan waste power plant (PLTSa) in mid-2020 with the support of a central fund of IDR 1.7 trillion, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic there was a transfer of funds so that the project could only be carried out in 2022.

"With the support of the central government, it is hoped that the construction of the PLTSa can go according to plan," he said.

Fitrianto explained that Palembang City was one of 12 cities in Indonesia appointed by President Joko Widodo to build waste management infrastructure into electrical energy based on environmentally friendly technology.

The existence of the PLTSa is expected to be able to overcome the problem of processing waste, which has recently increased to reach 1,200 tons per day.

"While the use of electrical energy of around 20 megawatts generated from the PLTSa, his party is preparing a cooperation scheme with PT PLN," said the Deputy Mayor.
