Give Support, The Gelora Party Called Gibran And Bobby Not Dynastic Politics

JAKARTA - The Gelora Party supports President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) 's eldest son who is running in the Solo Pilkada Gibran Rakabuming Raka who is paired with Teguh Prakosa. The new party, which is a fraction of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), also supports Jokowi's son-in-law, Bobby Nasution in the Medan Regional Election.

Chairman of the Indonesian Gelora Party, Anis Matta, said that this decision was taken with the consideration of the dynamics of voters and politics in the regions. He emphasized that his party also provides flexibility for regional administrators to direct support for candidates in the regional elections which will be held on December 9.

"It is fitting for regional administrators to know more about the dynamics. That is the principle of Gelora's policy in this regional election," said Anis in a written statement, Friday, September 18.

Anis assessed that Gibran and Bobby's progress in the five-year contest was not related to the desire to build dynastic politics in the regions. He considered that every citizen has the right to participate in direct elections in Pilkada with the applicable rules. Moreover, Gibran and Bobby did not inherit the job right away.

"If the position is 'inherited' without direct election by the people, then it can be called a dynasty," he said.

In line with Anis, Deputy Chairman of the Gelora Party Fahri Hamzah also emphasized that there is no such thing as dynastic politics in terms of a democratic country. This is because all candidates who run in general elections will be elected through a political process not because of a legacy of power from generation to generation.

"In a democratic country there will be no political dynasty because democratic power is not inherited from generation to generation but he is elected through a political process. People who enter the process do not necessarily win or lose," he said.

Fahri said that the current political dynasty is only a symbol. Even if there are areas that apply dynastic politics, the only thing in Indonesia is in Yogyakarta, which is led by the Hamengkubuwono Dynasty.

The former Deputy Speaker of the DPR does not deny that his party's decision to support Gibran and Bobby raises pros and cons. The contra group thinks that the Gelora Party has supported the practice of dynastic politics by the family of President Jokowi.

Responding to such statements, Fahri then invited them to debate dynastic politics and finally understood that these parties had no understanding of dynastic politics.

"In the end it becomes a conversation on the side of the road, a conversation of people who are not qualified. So stupid people are not only in the palace but also on the side of the road because they are not qualified," he concluded.
