JAKARTA - The KAI Commuter has removed the cross sign as a sign of maintaining distance on the seats of the electric rail train (KRL) starting today, Wednesday, March 9. This means that currently KRL passengers can sit without keeping their distance.

This is an implementation of the Circular Letter of the Ministry of Transportation Number 25 of 2022.

"This capacity increase is also marked by users being able to sit without distance. KAI Commuter officers have removed and cleaned seats on the KRL from the previously existing distance-keeping markers," wrote KAI Commuter's statement on the Twitter account @CommuterLine, Wednesday, March 9.

In the latest SE of the Ministry of Transportation, commuter trains in agglomeration areas including the Jabodetabek KRL and Yogyakarta – Solo KRL are allowed to serve users up to 60 percent of capacity. Previously, KRL capacity only served 45 percent.

Considering that there are still capacity restrictions, KAI Commuter is still putting up a distance sign at the point where passengers are standing on the train.

"With the removal of the markings on the seats, KAI Commuter invites users to be more disciplined in following standing markings. Standing markings remain in effect in line with the capacity restrictions stipulated in the SE Ministry of Transportation," he wrote. In addition, children under five years old (toddlers) previously have not been allowed to use the KRL, now they can return to the KRL provided that they are accompanied by their parents and strictly follow health protocols, and use the KRL outside peak hours.

Currently, KRL operates from 04:00 to 22:00 WIB with 1,005 trips per day for the KRL Jabodetabek. Meanwhile, the Yogyakarta – Solo KRL will also continue to operate with 20 KRL trips per day.

Users are also required to have been vaccinated by scanning through the PeduliLindung application or showing a physical vaccine certificate. KRL passengers are also still prohibited from speaking directly or by telephone while on the train.
