Madiun Health Office Finds 2,500 Doses Of Expired AstraZeneca Vaccine

MADIUN - The Health Office (Dinkes) of Madiun Regency, East Java found as many as 2,500 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine received from the East Java Provincial Health Office sent in expired condition.

Head of Disease Control and Eradication, Madiun District Health Office, Anies Djaka said thousands of doses of the vaccine were known to have reached their expiration date on February 28, 2022.

"The vaccine expired on February 28 and was received by the UPTD Pharmacy Warehouse of the Madiun District Health Office on the same date. The vaccine is the AstraZeneca type, which was sent from the East Java Provincial Health Office," said Anies Djaka in Madiun quoted by Antara, Tuesday, March 8.

Luckily, the vaccine had not yet been distributed to the Puskesmas to be injected into the target population. After being checked and known to have expired, the officer withheld the vaccine to keep it in the local pharmacy warehouse.

His party could not do much about the findings of the expired vaccine. The most important thing is that the vaccine is not distributed while waiting for further instructions from the East Java Health Office and the Indonesian Ministry of Health.

Anies Djaka ensured that the stock of COVID-19 vaccines in Madiun Regency was in a safe condition even though some had expired.

His party is also intensively accelerating the administration of vaccines to residents of Madiun Regency as an effort to prevent COVID-19 in the local area.

According to data, as of Friday, March 4, 2022, the achievement of COVID-19 vaccination in Madiun Regency was 479,234 people or 80.69 percent, the second dose was 414,026 people (69.71 percent), and the third dose was 22,351 people (3.76 percent). )

The vaccination achievement is the cumulative of various target categories. Starting from health workers, public services, the elderly (elderly), the general public and vulnerable people, teenagers, to children. The total target reached 593,894 people.
