Dior Reopens Historic Stores And Museums After Two Years

JAKARTA - Dior reopened its sprawling flagship store and a museum in its historic Avenue Montaigne outlet weeks after a two-year remodel, the latest in a string of hefty real estate investments from luxury conglomerate LVMH in the French capital.

The complex's official opening on March 6 follows a series of new sites from the group in recent months, including a department store and two luxury Cheval Blanc hotels overlooking the Seine and the Bulgari hotel on Tony Avenue George V.

LVMH has benefited from the post-pandemic demand boom in high-end consumption, even without the return of wealthy overseas visitors, the main source of income for the industry in recent years, particularly in Europe.

"Of course we are optimistic that one day tourists will return," Pietro Beccari, chairman and chief executive of Christian Dior Couture, told Reuters as quoted by 6 Naret,

This newly expanded complex spans over 10,000 square meters (107,640 sq ft), with cafes, gardens, restaurants and private apartments for overnight visits from VIP clients, alongside a floor of retail space stocked with clothing, accessories, tableware and make-up. face.

Next to the shop is the museum, 'La Galerie Dior' which traces the label's history from the 1940s, including dresses from that era, as well as the late Christian Dior table and original fitting room packed with hats, gloves and jewellery.

The project was thought up by Beccari and LVMH head Bernard Arnault in 2018, before the label had the economic power to such an endeavor, Beccari said in an interview.

Executives declined to provide financial details for the project, which required moving the historic workshop and 400 employees out of the room, excavating a second basement under the building.

"The building remained standing on the micro-posts for weeks, I couldn't sleep well," said Beccari.
