Perpetrators Of Extorting Money For Security In Mataram Shopping Areas Arrested By Police

MATARAM - The Mataram City Police (Polresta) team, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) arrested a suspected perpetrator of illegal levies (extortion) of security money in a number of shopping areas in this area.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Mataram Police, Kompol Kadek Adi Budi Astawa, said three men were arrested on this suspicion.

"They acted along the shopping areas of Jalan Panca Usaha and Jalan Ismail Marzuki, Cakranegara," said Kadek Adi, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, March 8.

The three arrested by the Puma Team of the Mataram Police, Monday (7/3) afternoon had the initials G (41), AG (36), and F (30).

"We arrested them based on the identification recorded on the victim's CCTV camera from one of the shops," he said.

In the CCTV camera, explained Kadek Adi, one of the perpetrators with the initials G was recorded when he asked the victim to deposit security money.

The perpetrator's action was strengthened by the confiscation of evidence, including a receipt for depositing security money from the victim, a letter of recommendation from the environment that was used to collect security money, and a stamp symbolizing approval from the environmental apparatus.

"There is a uniform that was used by perpetrator G and was recorded on CCTV when carrying out illegal levies," he said.

From the information of perpetrator G, then two other perpetrators were also arrested. They are suspected of being involved and enjoying the proceeds of the extortion.

The prosecution of these perpetrators, he said, began with reports from the public and victims who felt uncomfortable with the activities of the perpetrators.

Therefore, Kadek Adi appealed to the public not to hesitate to report if they experience and see similar actions in the field.

"We arrested the perpetrators because there were reports from the community that they were restless with their actions," said Kadek Adi.
