JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Wishnutama Kusubandio has invited hotel managers to join forces as a place for isolation of COVID-19 patients.
Hotels who wish to register can coordinate through the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI). This hotel isolation provision applies in five provinces, namely DKI Jakarta, Bali, North Sumatra, West Java and South Kalimantan.
"Kemenparekraf will open opportunities for other hotels to join the government to participate in reducing the spread of COVID-19," Wishnutama said at Graha BNPB, East Jakarta, Thursday, September 17.
However, there are conditions that must be met by these hotels. The team from the Ministry of Health will select and check requirements such as compliance with health protocols for hotels that register as places of isolation.
"Hotels that can carry out isolation must be able to implement health protocols in accordance with the provisions of the Ministry of Health, so as not to create new clusters," said Wishnutama.
In addition, hotels that will be used as places of isolation are not allowed to receive guests or general residents for a while.
As for hotels that are currently ready to use isolation, they are Yello Hotel, Ibis Hotel, Pop Hotel, Mercure hotel, and Novotel in the Greater Jakarta area. Then, there are the Ibis Hotel in Kuta Bali and the Novotel Banjarbaru in South Kalimantan.
"It is hoped that the provision of accommodation will begin early next week," said Wishnutama.
Meanwhile, the total number of isolation facilities prepared by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy can accommodate around 14 thousand COVID-19 patients. Isolation is carried out from this month to December.
