BP2MI Controls PMI Returns From Ukraine To Hometown After Quarantine

JAKARTA - Head of the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI) Benny Rhamdani said his party was responsible for Indonesian migrant workers who had been evacuated from Ukraine to return to their hometowns after completing quarantine.

"Especially for Indonesian migrant workers, they will return to their hometown in the responsibility of BP2MI, their return," said Head of BP2MI Benny, quoted by Antara, Friday, March 4.

The facilities provided include shelter if you have not received a return schedule as well as transportation tickets to return to their respective areas.

Benny said that in the group of Indonesian citizens (WNI) who had been evacuated from Ukraine and arrived in the country, there were 30 people who had the status of migrant workers from Indonesia.

They arrived in Indonesia on March 3, 2022 at 17:10 WIB and are currently undergoing quarantine according to health protocols at Wisma Pasar Rumput, Jakarta.

The details of the Indonesian workers (TKI) who have been successfully evacuated are 29 women and one man. The majority work as spa therapists and come from Bali.

BP2MI verified that eight of the 30 PMI evacuated had been registered in the SISKOP2MI system. The rest, explained Benny, is not recorded in the BP2MI system.

However, this does not mean that the 22 people are non-procedural workers. Because it can be categorized as an official worker who departs through an independent scheme.

He explained that eight people who have been registered in the BP2MI system already have employment social security. Meanwhile, for the other 22 PMIs, BP2MI will verify the existence of the social security.

Regarding work contracts, the PMIs can continue their work in the same place waiting until the conflict in the country of placement is over.

"Or if they choose not to continue their work and then want to continue their work to other countries, BP2MI will facilitate everything. In the sense that BP2MI will connect them with users in the placement countries," he said.
