Aceh Police Name 7 Suspects In Scholarship Corruption Cases

BANDA ACEH - Investigators from the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Aceh Police have named seven suspects in the alleged corruption case of the Aceh Government Scholarship for the 2017 Fiscal Year with a value of IDR 22.3 billion

The Head of Public Relations of the Aceh Police, Kombes Winardy, together with the Director of Special Criminal Investigation at the Aceh Police, Kombes Sony Sonjaya, said that the seven suspects were named after the case was carried out.

"Based on the results of the case titles, the seven people are considered to meet the elements to be named suspects in cases of alleged criminal acts of corruption in education funds or scholarships for the 2017 Fiscal Year," said Kombes Winardy, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, March 2.

The seven suspects, with the initials SYR as the Budget User (PA), FZ and RSL as the Budget User Proxy (KPA), FY as the Technical Implementation Officer (PPTK), and SM, RDJ, and RK as the scholarship field coordinator.

Kombes Winardy said that investigators from the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Aceh Police had reported the title of the case for determining the suspect to the Criminal Investigation Police and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

Investigators from the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation at the Aceh Police have been dealing with allegations of scholarship corruption several years ago. The total scholarships reached Rp22.3 billion which was allocated in the 2017 fiscal year.

The scholarship budget is placed in the Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM) of Aceh Province. The scholarships were distributed to 803 recipients.

Based on the results of the investigation, there are 400 students who have the potential to be suspects because they received scholarships, but did not meet the requirements as recipients. They found out that he did not qualify as a scholarship recipient.

Regarding the handling of the case, Kombes Winardy said the Aceh Police investigators had opened a post for returning scholarships from students who did not meet the requirements.

"Since the command post was opened, 54 students have returned state losses totaling Rp.713,495 million. The Aceh Regional Police still provides opportunities for students who receive scholarships who do not meet the requirements to return them," said Kombes Winardy.
