Risma Provides A Lab For Free Swab Places For Surabaya Residents

SURABAYA - Residents of Surabaya, East Java, now no longer need to spend to do a COVID-19 swab test. The Surabaya City Government is now providing a health laboratory for free swab facilities for Surabaya residents.

"Maybe we only have laboratories like this for city and regency levels, because usually this facility is at the provincial level," said the Mayor of Surabaya, Tri Rismaharini (Risma) in Surabaya, Wednesday, September 16.

Risma hopes that residents of Surabaya who frequently come and go in and out of the city will check themselves by visiting the lab. Residents must ensure that they are not exposed to COVID-19.

"Like the drivers or businessmen who often go out of town and maybe arriving at night, I hope that before entering the test house first here. Because it is open 24 hours non-stop, so that when you enter the house it is safe, sorry for the family if you catch it. Moreover, this is a free test for residents of Surabaya, "said Risma.

However, for residents outside Surabaya or not holders of a Surabaya KTP, they have to spend Rp120 thousand to undergo a COVID-19 swab test. This fee is in accordance with the Perda for inspection fees.

"Even though we were given BNPB and private equipment, our local regulation stipulated a fee of Rp120 thousand. I think it is very cheap," he said.

This laboratory in Surabaya can check 2,000-4,000 samples every day. The result, can be known within 2-3 days.

However, for Surabaya residents, especially drivers and businessmen who often leave the city, free swab is facilitated. The results can be known quickly within 1-1.5 hours.

"So, later we will provide the results that can be waited for. Now, if the results are negative, please go home calmly and safely. But if the results are positive, I advise you to go directly to the Hajj Dormitory Hotel for isolation. Moreover, there are doctors there, and if there are any. the comorbid will be immediately taken to the hospital, but if there are no symptoms it can be in the Hajj Dormitory, "explained Risma.

Risma hopes that Surabaya residents can find out this information and take advantage of this laboratory. According to him, it is better to prevent transmission of this virus than to have to treat people who have been exposed to this virus.

"I hope this laboratory can prevent and break the chain of spread of this virus. Hopefully this can be of use to anyone. With this laboratory, it is hoped that the disease will not increase, but hopefully it will decrease," he concluded.
