145 People Have Been Affected By Dengue Fever In Lebak Banten, 4 Died

BANTEN - The Health Service stated that as many as 145 residents of Lebak Regency, Banten Province had dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF). Four of them died.

"We ask residents to be aware of the spread of the dengue virus due to increased rainfall," said Head of the Communicable Disease Eradication and Prevention Section of the Lebak Regency Health Office, Rohmat in Lebak, Antara, Tuesday, March 2.

He explained that the people of Lebak Regency who were identified as positive for DHF from the beginning of 2022 until Monday, February 28, recorded 145 people and four died.

Of the 145 cases spread across 16 sub-districts as endemic areas, namely Rangkasbitung 62 cases (4 died), Cibadak 28 cases, Kalanganyar 13 cases, Cibeber 7 cases, Cimarga 5 cases, Warunggunung 5 cases and Sajira 5 cases.

Then, in Maja Subdistrict 5 cases, Curugbitung 4 cases, Cileles 3 cases,​​​​ Cipanas 2 cases, Sobang 2 cases, Cikulur 1 case, Bojongmanik 1 case, Bayah 1 case and​​​​​ Leuwidamar 1 case.

The DHF patient, he said, could be treated by medical personnel at the puskesmas and a number of hospitals. "We ask the public if they experience a fever for more than three days, they should seek treatment and be treated by medical personnel," he said.

According to him, the spread of dengue fever in Lebak Regency has increased in the last two months due to the arrival of the rainy season, so that it has the potential to accelerate the breeding of the aedes aegypti mosquito as the spreader of dengue fever.

Therefore, his party does not stop socializing and educating the prevention of this deadly disease so as not to cause cases of extraordinary events (KLB).

The spread of dengue fever is due to an unsanitary environment that breeds mosquitoes carrying the dengue virus.

The community must play an active role in optimizing the culture of mutual cooperation by carrying out environmental hygiene activities and the Mosquito Nest Eradication (PSN) movement and carrying out 3M (bury, drain, close).

In addition, the provision of abatement to kill the mosquito larvae of DHF. This is because the act of fogging or fogging is considered ineffective to break the chain of the spread of DHF.

"I believe that PSN and 3M can kill mosquito larvae so that they are free from the spread of this deadly disease," he said.

He said the cause of the spread of the dengue disease was due to environmental conditions where there was a lot of garbage so that rainwater did not touch the ground and the Aedes aegypti mosquito breeds in used cans, tires and used goods.

Usually, he said, the spread of dengue fever was in densely populated areas, such as in the 16 sub-districts.

"We ask residents to be wary of the spread of DHF, because they are worried that this year will be a five-year cycle," said Rohmat.

Meanwhile, Selli (35), a resident of East Rangkasbitung, Lebak Regency, admitted that her toddler was forced to be hospitalized because her temperature was quite high due to dengue fever. "We are relieved that the condition of the toddler is now quite improving after receiving medical treatment at the hospital," he said.
