COVID-19 Cases In East Kalimantan Increase By 2,577 People

SAMARINDA - The East Kalimantan Province COVID-19 Task Force noted that an additional 2,577 people were confirmed positive for COVID-19. Meanwhile, the number of recovered cases increased by 1,067 people.

Spokesman for the East Kalimantan Province COVID-19 Handling Task Force Andi Muhammad Ishak said the highest additional positive cases occurred in Balikpapan with a total of 834 people.

Additional positive cases were 426 in Samarinda, 426 in Kutai Kartanegara, 232 in East Kutai, 212 in Bontang, 148 in Berau, 110 in West Kutai, 99 in Paser, 79 in North Penajam Paser and 33 in Mahakam Ulu.

"In the last two days there have been additional positive cases of more than two thousand people, the previous day in East Kalimantan there were also additional positive cases of 2,919 people," he said, quoted by Antara, Thursday, February 24.

Andi emphasized that 446 recovered cases occurred in Balikpapan, 147 in Kutai Kartanegara, 115 in Samarinda, 79 in East Kutai, 66 in Berau, 61 in North Penajam Paser, 47 in Bontang, 43 in West Kutai, 39 in Paser. Mahakam Ulu four people.

"There are 17,806 confirmed positive patients undergoing treatment in the East Kalimantan region," Andi said.

The distribution of patients being treated was in Balikpapan 6,432 people, Samarinda 3,187 people, Kutai Kartanegara 2,530 people, Bontang 1,590 people and East Kutai 1,573 people.

Furthermore, Berau 702 people, West Kutai 701 people, North Penajam Paser 560 people, Paser 509 people and Mahakam Ulu 17 people.

"Mahakam Ulu still maintains the COVID-19 yellow zone, while nine other East Kalimantan regions are still in the red zone status," Andi said.

He informed that the potential for increasing cases in the East Kalimantan region was still high, considering that the central government had also warned that areas outside Java and Bali would see a spike in cases after cases in Java and Bali began to decline.
