DPRD Letters To Ministry Of Home Affairs Regarding The Inauguration Status Of The Governor Of South Sulawesi

MAKASSAR - The Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) of South Sulawesi has again written to the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) regarding the status of the appointment and inauguration of Andi Sudirman Sulaiman as Governor of South Sulawesi, before the deadline for March 5, 2022.

"Today, we are again writing to ask for the immediate inauguration of the definitive governor," said Deputy Chair of the South Sulawesi DPRD, Ni'matullah Erbe in Makassar, quoted by Antara, Thursday, February 24.

According to him, so far the DPRD has held a plenary session on the announcement, ratification and appointment of Andi Sudirman Sulaiman from acting governor to governor. However, the letter of determination and inauguration from the Ministry of Home Affairs has not been received.

He said it had been a month since the plenary meeting was held after the letter of dismissal of Nurdin Abdullah as governor was received from the president. Thus, the effort to write to the Ministry of Home Affairs is the right step, because there must be certainty.

"It has been one month after the plenary meeting that we have held, but so far there is no sign of when the definitive governor will be inaugurated," said the legislator from the Democratic faction.

This is because the current condition is that if there is no definitive governor, it will be difficult to decide on policies, considering that the Acting position only carries out its duties and limited powers. In addition, the province of South Sulawesi is quite broad and there are many strategic issues that need to be completed by the definitive governor and deputy governor.

"The Plt's authority is limited, and he cannot decide policies. We hope that the central government does not hang this item (the inauguration), because South Sulawesi cannot be managed by the governor himself," he explained.

The man who is familiarly called Ulla also explained that currently there are so many people's problems that must be resolved through the governor's and deputy governor's policies for the remainder of their tenure, such as the scarcity of cooking oil, the limitation of soybeans as raw material for tempeh and tofu.

"Quick action is needed, if the status is still Acting, of course his authority is limited. Because there are serious problems if there is no decision from the central government regarding this (inauguration)," he said.

Another problem is the issue of land disputes between PTPN and residents in Enrekang Regency which are still polemic, so a strategic policy is needed to resolve the problem. Likewise with other pressing problems. Given the position of the Plt, he must consult with the center to determine policies.

"The government in South Sulawesi will certainly not be effective if it continues to hang. It is as if the central government has allowed this and it is considered that there is no problem. Imagine that this Plt has been in office for almost a year," he stressed.
