DKI Chasing Time To Work On Formula E Circuit, PDIP: Not Quality

JAKARTA - Member of the DKI DPRD from the PDIP faction, Gilbert Simanjuntak, regrets that the process of constructing the Formula E circuit is being carried out in such a hurry.

According to Gilbert, if the construction of an electric car race track is carried out in a hurry, the results will not be of high quality.

"There is no quality in something that is done in a hurry. Even if it happened, then I regret why it had to be forced," Gilbert told reporters, Thursday, February 24.

Gilbert suggested that the timing of Formula E's implementation be postponed from the plan to be held on June 4, 2022.

He gave an example of the construction process of the Cipularang Toll Road which was carried out in a hurry. The expressway was built quickly in order to facilitate the delegation of the Asian-African Conference. Unfortunately, the toll road has not been completed until now in the swamp area.

"This means that it is very possible that this (Formula E circuit) will only be used once, after that it must be repaired again," said Gilbert. Previously, the person in charge of Formula E construction at PT Jaya Konstruksi, Ari Wibowo said that his party worked 24 hours non-stop in building the circuit. Currently, the development progress of the Formula E circuit has reached 28.5 percent.

Ari claims this progress is about 8 percent faster than the target. On the current 21st day of construction work, they are targeting construction to reach 19.69 percent.

"The construction of the Formula E circuit has an implementation period of 54 days. Imagine, with this weather, we currently reach 28.5 percent," said Ari when met at the construction site of the circuit, Ancol, North Jakarta, Wednesday, February 23.

It is known, as of February 23, the progress of the construction of the Formula E circuit has now reached 28.5 percent. The circuit has been under construction since February 3, 2022 and is targeted to be completed on March 28, 2022. The source of the funds for this project is from PT Jakarta Propertindo's company money of around Rp. 50 billion.

The shape of the Formula E track is said to be similar to a lumping horse. Then, the location of the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit has 18 bends, 600 meters of straight track, clockwise direction, and 2.4 kilometers of track length.

After completion of construction, the circuit will be reviewed and tested by FEO as the license holder of Formula E. Until finally, Formula E will officially be held in Ancol on June 4, 2022.
