East Kalimantan Residents Please Calm Down, IKN Transfer Will Not Ignore Local Human Resources

JAKARTA - Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko said the relocation of the state capital (IKN) to East Kalimantan would not ignore local human resources (HR), both from the beginning of development until the IKN system was running.

The development of the Nusantara IKN should also be able to bring out the advantages of human resources, said Moeldoko in the virtual public discussion of the Home Archipelago "Towards the New National Capital", as monitored in Jakarta, Wednesday, February 23.

"From the beginning of development until IKN runs, human resources there should not be ignored. The presence of IKN must really be a lever factor that creates HR excellence and absorbs the existing workforce so that they are not only spectators, but also play an active role in it, and even make a big contribution to this large project," said Moeldoko, quoted from Antara.

He also conveyed that one of the aspirations of the people of East Kalimantan towards the transfer and development of IKN is that they hope that the transfer will not marginalize the local community.

"One of the aspirations of the people of East Kalimantan is related to affirmative policies for the community, namely the development of IKN and modernization carried out so as not to marginalize the local community," he explained.

In addition, he said, the arrival of representatives from the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) to East Kalimantan was to hear the aspirations of the residents through indigenous peoples, religious leaders, and local youth leaders.

The local community also expects the Government to really implement the concept of protecting the environment in the development of IKN.

"A good concept is like a protected environment, as conveyed by President Joko Widodo and Minister of PUPR (Public Works and Public Housing) Basuki Hadimuljono, that 20 to 30 percent is what will be built; while the remaining 70 percent is something that must be maintained. . These are all very good concepts. They want it not just a concept, but actually consistently implemented, "he explained.

The community also hopes that the local wisdom and culture of East Kalimantan will be well maintained, so that they can play an active role in the development of IKN.

"These are important things that need to be absorbed so that the policy (related to the transfer of IKN) can really adapt to the needs of the community in the local environment or needs in the field," he said.
