Mayor Of Banjarmasin: Moving The Capital Of South Kalimantan Province To Banjarbaru A Sudden Decision

BANJARMASIN - Mayor of Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (South Kalimantan) H Ibnu Sina said the decision to move the provincial capital from Banjarmasin City to Banjarbaru City was a sudden decision.

"Simply put, this transfer is like, for the decision, yes, not the process, the decision was sudden," said Ibnu Sina, in Banjarmasin, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, February 22.

According to him, the Banjarmasin City Government, which he will lead for two periods until 2024, feels that he has never been involved until the law is processed and passed by the DPR on February 15, 2022.

"We feel that we have never been asked, that's why I ask whose aspiration this is," said Ibn Sina.

What he knows, said Ibnu Sina, was that the decision was agreed during the South Kalimantan Governor H Rudy Ariffin and Deputy Governor H Rosehan NB (2005-2010), only the transfer of the office center from the City of Banjarmasin to the City of Banjarbaru.

"In the Provincial Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD) document at that time, it was only the transfer of the center of government, not the provincial capital," he said.

Why did he believe that, because Ibn Sina stated that he was directly involved in the RPJMD decision at that time, because he was a member of the legislature.

"I was the chairman of Commission I at that time who discussed the transfer of the new office of the South Kalimantan Provincial Government to Banjarbaru City, so I understand very well, there is no relocation of the provincial capital," he said.

According to him, relocating the center of government is a common thing, but not with the status of the capital city of South Kalimantan Province, because Banjarmasin City is a historic city that has been the provincial capital for 495 years.

"Usually the process of moving the regional capital starts from the bottom, not suddenly the decision is agreed like this," he said.

With the sudden decision to move the capital city of South Kalimantan Province, Ibnu Sina conveyed that he was considering suing the Constitutional Court (MK).

"Indeed, there are many incentives for us to carry out a judicial review that has been enacted, the aspirations of the community, especially residents of the City of Banjarmasin, I have observed in recent days there is a strong desire to take legal action, either judicial review or others," said Ibnu Sina.

Previously, the DPR in a plenary meeting, Tuesday, February 15, officially ratified seven Draft Laws on Provinces into law (UU), one of which is South Kalimantan Province.
