JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo appreciates the ulama and religious leaders in Banten who participated in vaccination activities, so that they can be a motivation for people to want to be vaccinated as an effort to prevent the transmission of COVID-19.

"Surely this good news can be a motivation for people who are still hesitant about a vaccine visa," said Listyo Sigit while reviewing vaccinations in Banten, as quoted by Antara from a written statement, Tuesday, February 22.

While reviewing the acceleration of vaccination at the Regional Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM) of Banten Province, Tuesday, Listyo Sigit received information that on average, ulama and religious leaders in Banten had received the first and second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. scholars and religious leaders in Pamekasan Regency, East Java Province, Saturday (19/2). He is optimistic that the acceleration of COVID-19 vaccination in Indonesia can be achieved.

According to him, it is important to accelerate vaccination under current conditions, considering the number of cases of COVID-19 transmission, especially the Omicron variant, is still high, reaching a daily figure of around 34,000 to 64,000.

"Of course, you have to stay alert, but you don't need to be afraid and one of the things that will continue to be intensified is for people who have not been vaccinated to want to carry out the vaccine," he said.

He also appealed to people who have received the first dose of vaccine to immediately carry out the second dose of vaccination, by visiting vaccine outlets that have been prepared, both by the government and the TNI-Polri.

For people who have received the primary vaccine, they are asked to immediately go to the nearest health facility to get the third dose of vaccine or booster.

According to the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) regulations, booster vaccines can be given to the elderly after three months of being injected with the second dose. The numbers are still high and there are risks that must be avoided and guarded," he said

The National Police Chief also emphasized all parties to remain vigilant and not neglect to implement health protocols as an effort to control the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Indonesia is already in fourth place in the world for vaccination. And hopefully it will soon be third or second with the cooperation of all," he explained.

Listyo Sigit also said that the acceleration of vaccination was carried out with the aim of establishing communal immunity, so that it would affect community activities and national economic growth. ," he said.

He also gave directions regarding efforts and strategies to accelerate vaccination to reduce the rate of transmission of COVID-19 in Indonesia.
