JAKARTA - Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General TNI Dudung Abdurachman explained the reason for the detention of special staff of KSAD Brigadier General TNI Junior Tumilaar at the Military Detention Center (RTM) Cimanggis, Depok, West Java, who served outside his authority.

General Dudung said that every soldier when carrying out his duties must be ordered by his superiors and there is an order.

"Well, he (Tumilaar) without orders and on behalf of the Special Staff of the Army Chief of Staff to defend the people. That is not his capacity as a regional unit," explained Dudung.

According to him, the actions taken by Brigadier General Junior Tumilaar should have been the task of the Babinsa to the Kodim because these two elements have the authority to carry out the duties of the regional unit.

"The Babinsa and the Kodim should carry out these activities and of course coordinate with the regional government and local security forces. He carries out activities outside of his main duties," he said.

Not only that, Junior Tumilaar's position as Special Staff of the Army Chief of Staff should have applied for a permit when he was about to leave.

"When the Special Staff of the KSAD leaves, they must have the permission of the KSAD, but he acts in the name of defending the people, even though it is not the authority in question," he said.

It is known that Brigadier General Tumilaar defended the residents of Bojongkoneng, Babakan Medang, Bogor Regency, who were involved in land issues with PT Sentul City. Previously, a photo of a handwritten letter in the name of Brigadier General TNI Junior Tumilaar circulated on social media on Monday (21/2).

The letter relates to Tumilaar's request to be evacuated to the RSPAD from the Cimanggis Military Detention Center (RTM), Depok, West Java, due to acid reflux or GERD he is suffering from.

The letter was addressed to the Army Chief of Staff, Ka Otmilti II, Danpuspom AD, and Ditkum AD.

In the letter, Tumilaar asked to be pardoned for being guilty of defending the people of Bojong Koneng, Babakan Madang, Bogor Regency, who were victims of the eviction of land and buildings of PT Sentul City.

"I also ask for forgiveness because on April 3, 2022 I am 58 years old, so I am entering retirement age," Tumilaar said in his letter.

Copies of the letter were addressed to, among others, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, the Minister of Defense, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, the Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces, the Kababinkum TNI, and the Orgen General of the TNI.
