JAKARTA - The Deputy Chief of Police and Deputy Chair of the Committee for Handling COVID-19 and National Economic Recovery (PCPEN) Komjen Gatot Eddy Pramono checked the implementation of health protocols at Tanah Abang Station, Central Jakarta. It turns out that there are still residents who do not use masks while on the move.

"Almost people have used masks. Yes, only a few people (do not use)," said Gatot to reporters, Friday, September 11.

Gatot suspects that there are still residents who do not wear masks because they are getting bored. In addition, according to Gatot, they have not made wearing masks a new lifestyle in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"From the existing evaluations, the weakest one is that our society is starting to get bored with the use of these masks, which is disorderly and undisciplined. That's what we see. We are now together, not alone, to carry out this discipline," he explained.

For that reason, his party will hold the Yustisi operation. But it was emphasized that the operation was not a direct action using criminal law. Rather, it puts forward a persuasive and humanist way.

"So this operation is not a repressive operation but a disciplinary operation for the public so that the use of these masks and the COVID-19 protocol can be carried out properly. At least this will reduce the spread of the corona virus outbreak. That's our goal," said Gatot.

With the Yustisi operation, it is expected that the level of public awareness of implementing health protocols will be higher. Especially in places that are prone to transmission.

"Of course in the future we hope not only here, in other places, there are office clusters, market clusters," said Gatot.

The number of COVID-19 continues to rise

The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) previously released additional positive cases of COVID-19 as of Thursday, September 10. A total of 34,909 specimens were examined.

As a result, there were 3,861 new positive cases of COVID-19. New cases today set new records. After previously the highest number of new cases occurred at 3,622 on September 3. "The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 207,203 people," the Ministry of Health was quoted as saying, Thursday, September 10.

Today's cases increased by 2,310, so that a total of 147,510 people recovered. Then, the confirmed positive cases who died increased by 120 people and a total of 8,456 people.

The province with the most new cases was in DKI Jakarta with 1,274 new cases and a total of 50,671 cases. DKI Jakarta is also the province with the most accumulated cases in Indonesia.

Followed by East Java, which has 381 new cases with a total of 37,093 cases. Central Java with 375 new cases and a total of 16,508 cases. West Java with 335 new cases and a total of 13,668 cases. Then, Riau has 194 new cases and a total of 3,163 cases.
