Went Viral! Ojol Rider In North Jakarta Steal A Schoolboy's Cellphone, The Mode Asks For A Hotspot

JAKARTA - A viral video on social media shows the theft with a fraudulent mode to an elementary school boy carried out by a motorbike rider wearing an online motorcycle taxi (ojol) attribute.

This video was uploaded to the @Jakut.Info account seen by VOI, Thursday, February 17th. In the video, it appears that the suspect who was riding a motorbike initially crossed Mangga Alley approaching the victim who was walking while playing with his cellphone.

The perpetrator seemed to stop the elementary school student and talk to the victim.

Not long after, the suspect left and managed to steal the cellphone of the elementary school boy and immediately left Mangga Alley, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta.

Tanjung Priok Police Chief, Commissioner Ricky Pranata Vivaldi confirmed the incident. He said the incident occurred in the Tanjung Priok area of North Jakarta, Wednesday, February 16 morning.

The incident began when the victim came home with his cellphone. However, suddenly a motorcycle rider came wearing an ojol jacket.

"Then it was suspected that ojol then communicated (pretended) to ask for a hotspot (internet)," said Ricky when contacted by VOI, Thursday, February 17.

At that time, the victim immediately handed over his cellphone to the alleged perpetrator. The reason, he did not understand how to set up the internet.

"When the cellphone was controlled by the alleged ojol, he ran away. (So) his cellphone was handed over, he was given it and he ran away," he said.
