JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian said that the relocation of the State Capital (IKN) must be responded with optimism because it already has a clear legal basis and a strong foundation.

"You have to be optimistic, 'the show must go on'," said the Minister of Home Affairs in a statement received in Jakarta, Wednesday, February 15.

Therefore, the Minister of Home Affairs asked all parties to support the process of transferring IKN, including whoever will become the leader later. This is because the transfer of IKN has been supported by strong regulations.

"There is already a law, then the legal basis, and the PP (government regulation) will soon be. If later in 2024 we hope whoever the president, or whoever the leader is, (he is) a supporter of IKN," said the Minister of Home Affairs.

Regarding the IKN government system later, the Minister of Home Affairs explained that the area would be in the form of a province with specificity.

The regulation that regulates the specificity of the new IKN, he said, is currently in the process of being drafted. It is targeted that the regulation will be completed in the near future.

"Therefore, there is a mandate to make a PP regarding governance procedures here (IKN), and we are targeting one month to complete it," said the Minister of Home Affairs. which states that the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) consists of provinces and regencies/cities, but Article 18B of the 1945 Constitution recognizes the existence of special regional governments. A number of these areas have different specialties.
