CIANJUR - The Cianjur Regency Government, West Java, has again closed the Cianjur Square, as an effort to suppress the rising number of COVID-19 transmissions. Since it opened a month ago, this park has been visited by residents and tourists from various regions.

Cianjur Regent Herman Suherman said the level of visits to the park since the last few weeks has continued to increase, especially on weekends. Meanwhile, cases of COVID in Cianjur are also high.

"The park will be closed for an undetermined time, because the rate of transmission is reoccurring. To reduce the transmission rate, the regional government has imposed restrictions on activities, including closing crowd centers," he said in Cianjur, Antara, Monday, February 14.

Herman Suherman explained that the level of visits was not only dominated by local residents, but from various regions in West Java, making it prone to transmission.

Although strict procedures are in place, to anticipate the closure, it is forced to do so. His side noted that during the past month, the transmission rate of COVID-19 in Cianjur had reached 488 cases.

Most of them are in isolation at their homes and a number of isolation centers have been reopened, as a quick response.

"We will see the situation in the next two weeks, when there is a decline, the possibility of the park will reopen as soon as possible. But for the time being, we ask residents to limit activities outside their homes and continue to use personal protective equipment," he said.
