Asked About The Prevention Of Casualties During Elections, Candidates For KPU Members: We Can Review

JAKARTA - Commission II of the House of Representatives questioned the way the General Election Commission (KPU) prevented any fatalities from election officials so that incidents such as the 2019 general election would not be repeated.

This was stated during the fit and proper test for candidates for KPU and Bawaslu members today, Monday, February 14.

Member of Commission II of the DPR Nasir Djamil said, until now it was not known for certain the cause of the death of more than a thousand officers in the 2019 Simultaneous Election.

He also asked the candidate for KPU member, August Mellaz, to explain about the use of technology to reduce casualties during the election.

"How do you explain the use of information technology that can be done to prevent fatalities from happening again during the 2019 General Election?" said Nasir.

Responding to the question, August emphasized that if he is elected later, his party will evaluate the implementation of the KPU Regulation. Including the matter of preventing fatalities for election officials.

"We can review it again and then consult with Commission II and the DPR first," answered August.
