The National Police Chief Ensures Safety And Prosperity Of The Mandalika MotoGP Pre-season

JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has confirmed the readiness for the MotoGP pre-season test at the Mandalika Circuit, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), in terms of security and the implementation of health protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The four-star general directly checked the implementation of security and health protocol discipline at the Mandalika Circuit, NTB, Friday, February 11.

"We carry out direct checks regarding security preparations carried out in order to ensure the entire series of pre-season activities and later the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia MotoGP will be held in March," said Sigit, quoted by Antara from a written statement from the National Police Public Relations Division, Friday, February 11.

According to him, all the problems that had arisen at the Mandalika Circuit have now been resolved. Likewise with the implementation of health protocols, strictly enforced starting from the entrance to Indonesia.

Enforcement of health protocols is carried out at accommodation places to the Mandalika Circuit location. Inspections ranging from documents, RT-PCR tests, daily antigen swab tests, to setting area boundaries for participants, officials and the public.

Sigit also ensures that the travel bubble scheme is implemented according to standard operating procedures (SOP). This is intended so that the international standard activities run safely, smoothly, while at the same time paying attention to health factors for all parties involved.

"This means that we see that for the travel bubble system in order to maintain health protocols, everything is going well," he said.

The National Police Chief said as many as 1,598 joint personnel from the TNI-Polri and other related parties were deployed to provide security in the implementation of the international standard activities.

"Of course there will be additions (personnel) that are adjusted to the pattern of security and threats faced," he said.

Sigit added that the TNI-Polri, together with the regional leadership coordination forum (Forkopimda) and the Mandalika MotoGP Field Commander Marshal (Ret.) Hadi Tjahjanto continue to evaluate to ensure the implementation of the 2022 MotoGP Official Test and the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia run smoothly.

"Overall, I see things going well. The evaluation will continue to be carried out by the Kapolda in coordination with the field commander. So that the entire series can be ensured to run safely and to control COVID-19, the health protocols are running as expected," concluded Sigit.

The Mandalika Circuit is busy with the official MotoGP test event on February 11-13 which will be a crucial moment for the team and the riders to determine the direction of their motorcycle development before starting the season-opening race in Qatar on March 6.

The Mandalika Circuit will also host the second race on the MotoGP calendar on March 20.
