3 Positive Omicron Cases Found In Bengkulu

BENGKULU - The Bengkulu Provincial Health Office found three cases of Omicron in Bengkulu based on the results of the Research and Development Center for Bio-Medical Health Technology, the Ministry of Health.

The head of the Bengkulu Provincial Health Office, Herwan Antoni, said that the three positive patients for COVID-19 were a woman (34), a woman (22) and a man (54).

"We just received news from the Ministry of Health's Litbangkes that of the 5 samples released, 3 of them tested positive for Omicron," said Herwan, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, February 9.

He said that currently Bengkulu Province has not been able to detect the Omicron variant, so it must wait for the sample results from the Ministry of Health's Litbangkes to find out the results.

On January 5, a sample of a female patient (13) was sent to Litbangkes and on January 26 the patient tested positive for COVID-19, but not the Omicron variant.

On January 26, his party conducted an examination at M. Yunus' laboratory on 8 samples from Bengkulu City and showed positive results for COVID-19.

Furthermore, on January 27, 8 samples were sent to Litbangkes for inspection and on February 8, 5 of the 8 samples sent had come out, 3 of which tested positive for the Omicron variant COVID-19

The three patients are women (34) who work as housewives, domiciled in Bengkulu City and have a travel history from Jakarta.

Then the woman (22) works as an ASN and the man (54) works as an ASN, both of whom are Jakarta residents who work in Bengkulu City.

All three had symptoms so they did an examination and currently the Omicron case has entered and is spreading in the Bengkulu Province.

Currently, the three positive patients of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 have been declared cured because they have been in self-isolation for more than 10 days.

"Because the case was detected on January 26, the three have self-isolated and are currently declared cured," he said.

Herwan asked the people of Bengkulu Province not to panic even though the spread of the Omicron variant was 4 times faster than the Delta variant, but the mortality rate was low and most patients had mild symptoms or even no symptoms.
