JAMBI - A 90-year-old grandmother, resident of East Tanjungjabung Regency (Tanjabtim) was killed by a six-meter python when she was about to defecate in a latrine located on the Siau River, Muara Sabak District.

The Tanjabtim Police Chief, AKBP Andi M Ichsan, said the incident occurred on the Siau River near the Kota Raja Bridge, Muara Sabak Ilir Village, East Muara Sabak District, East Tanjungjabung Regency.

"The victim's name is Indo Batari, a 90-year-old woman," he said as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, February 8.

The incident occurred at around 05.30 WIB, when the victim headed to the scene on foot to defecate in the latrine (wc) on the side of the Siau river which was not far from the victim's house.

Without realizing it, it turned out that the victim had been stalked by the python behind a thicket, when the victim crossed the python, which was quite large, it immediately bit the victim's right leg and wrapped it around him.

The incident was discovered by his son, Indo Raja, who suspected that his mother had gone to the latrine for so long, and took the initiative to follow.

Knowing that his mother was wrapped in a snake, Indo tried to help by pulling the victim's hand, but it was already tightly wrapped and the witness then went to call neighbors around to ask for help. Local residents came and bustled killing the snake.

"The victim's life could not be saved anymore and the victim suffered bite wounds on the left leg, face and neck," said Police Chief Andi.
