Moroccan Women Abuse Children, Bitten-Beaten To Death

JAKARTA - Police have arrested a woman who is a foreign citizen (WNA) from Morocco with the initials ML (29) for torturing her child to death. The maltreatment was carried out by being bitten until beaten.

"On the victim's back there was a blow with a bruise and a blunt object. For example, he used a hanger," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Yusri Yunus to reporters, Monday, September 7.

The persecution was exposed when ML took his son to Murni Teguh Hospital because he was injured on September 1. But when he was examined the wound was suspected to have been caused by mistreatment.

Suspicious of a child's injury, the hospital reported it to the police. The police then investigated by examining ML.

From the results of the investigation, Yusri said that ML admitted that he only bit his son. The reason was that ML's son was about to jump from his place of residence in an apartment unit in the Central Jakarta area.

"His confession was only bitten because he admitted that this child was about to jump out of the apartment. But after we checked into the apartment there was no hole for jumping," he said.

The police simply do not believe the reasons stated by the suspect. ML was then examined intensively.

"We are still exploring it. First, we are constrained by language. We are still exploring the motive, because the person concerned has not confessed and has done so," said Yusri.

For his actions, the suspect is subject to Article 76C junto Article 80 paragraph 3 of Law Number 35 concerning Child Protection.
